Beginner 4 Sewing Lessons

Beginner level four classes will introduce you to sewing with knits. Using cotton jersey fabric, you will create a knit top with short sleeves, a round neckline.

Don't bring your sewing machine for the first class (except Saturday class).

1.

Class One: Measuring, Pattern Selection, Planning, Pattern Tracing

Supplies:

Book with patterns: "Easy Sewing the Kwik-Sew Way" by Kerstin Martensson

pattern adjustment chart from level 2 class

Scissors and 5/8-inch wide Tape measure in good condition

Instructor provides: 2 yards Pattern Ease, fine-line markers, clear plastic ruler

Cut out your pattern pieces, cut out the notches

2.

Class Two: Cutting Out and Marking

Supplies:

knit fabric required for the garment, laundered without fabric softener

One new size 75/11 knit or jersey sewing machine needle

*

Thread to match fabric, or one shade darker

*

One yard fusible lightweight knit interfacing

Finding lengthwise grain, selvedges, and cross-grain

Laying out the fabric and pattern pieces

Cutting the fabric

Marking the notches and other landmarks

3.

Class Three: Neck and shoulders
