This top was made with PMB in a luxurious, washable, polyester "suede" fabric that looks so real, I want to smell the leather! The top was supposed to have short sleeves, but I didn't have enough fabric. Besides, it doesn't get very cold in Florida, so I was able to wear this outfit to a holiday party on December 9, 2001. I think the top turned out pretty well, all things considered. I was totally winging it when I modified it. After I manually drafted the draped neckline, I was able to see the "correct" way to do it in the Armstrong textbook, and I found that my method was not even halfway close. That also explains why I have so much blousing in the front. Considering that no underarm gaposis exists, and it's fun to wear and touch, I'm quite pleased with the results. The skirt is one of my do-it-yourself projects. I plan to write the instructions for it soon. This is a border print which is dark at the border and lighter at the opposite edge. You can see that the underlap is much lighter than the border. The fabric is only 45 inches around, and this skirt is more than 45 inches around. I bought two lengths of the fabric. The front overlay is one piece with the back. The front underlap is not as wide as the other piece. The underlap is attached at its lightest edge to the light edge of the larger piece. This seam, at my left side, has a two-piece inseam pocket which hangs from the waist band. The waist band was also pieced, and not very well!!
