Matching Patch Pockets |
Here are examples of patch pockets that were matched so that they are nearly invisible.
Leave the pattern on the shirt front, lay the pocket pattern piece on top, pocket markings aligned, and trace the fabric's design onto the pocket pattern piece. The first piece shown is for the blue marlin shirt below, the second is for the flowered shirt and is marked with "red flower," "yellow line," etc.

Lay the pocket pattern piece onto its own fabric, following the design. When the pocket is ready to be applied, the pocket can be put onto the shirt by aligning the designs. Use fusible thread just under the sides and bottom of the pocket to fuse the pocket in place for the topstitching.
