Late In the year 2002, we moved the major living room furniture from the family room into the sewing room, and moved the sewing stuff into the family room. We managed to sell the dining room table and chairs, and - here we go!!

Here's the family room before it became my sewing room. Rather dark for Florida:

My dear husband created a rolling cutting table for me with storage underneath. He took the money from selling the dining room table and chairs, went to Home Depot, and bought four cabinets (see picture of the 30-inch base cabinet here), two-by-fours, and some other stuff. Here's the work in progress ...

Here's a picture after the cabinets have been fastened together, some doors attached, and the cutting mat lain on top just for fun:

This picture shows the top which has just been cut to size sitting atop the cart:

Here's the basic data about creating this table:

Half-inch hardwood plywood, about 30 bucks, from Home Depot, origin Ecuador (ya, whatever!). It is as wide as the mat (40 x 72) but longer than the length to allow for rounded corners. Before fastening, it was upside down so I could primer coat the flat and the edges. After a couple hours, he turned it over, fastened it to the tops of the cabinets, and primed the other flat side. Some time later, he painted the top and sides of the "top." The next day I was allowed to place the mat on it. The wait was killing me!! Some day we will write the "real" instructions.
